Walk Report
Two Ramblers enjoyed a lower level alternative to the advertised walk. It was too windy to walk along Derwent Edge, so after climbing up to Whinstone Lee Tor, where we were battered by the wind, we took the bridleway that runs below the edge. From here we descended to the track that runs around Ladybower via Grindle Clough.
Heavy showers, interspersed with welcome sunny spells, were the order of the day. Between the showers we had good views, heard cuckoos and curlew, and saw lambs, calves and Greylag and Canada geese with goslings.
From Fairholmes, we climbed up through beech woods, to Lockerbrook Farm and took the bridleway that crosses Bridge-end Pasture to Crookhill Farm and back to Ashopton Viaduct.
8.5 miles walked and about 1100 ft of ascent.
