Walk Report
Gathering at the top car park in Winster the Wednesday medium car group, including an a Visitor from Glossop, commenced with a gentle walk through the upper part of the Village before turning south east to follow the footpath to the junction with the Limestone Way and to pass below Luntar Rocks.
Leaving the Limestone Way at Bonsal Lane the group turned due east to stop for a coffee break just before Lea Wood with fine views over the Derwent Valley with Farley Moor and Darley Hillside as a backdrop. Fully refreshed from here the route turned south for Upper Town and the descent into Bonsall Dale. After a short climb out of the dale the Limestone Way was re-joined for a short hop for the turnoff to the area of disused mines on Bonsall Moor. Although the group had hoped to see Mountain Pansies they had to settle for Cowslips, (perhaps a little too early for the Pansies).
The next stop was lunch taken in brilliant sunshine just before reaching the tiny farming hamlet of Ible. After passing through Ible a route paralleling the Griffe Grange Valley was followed before turning first East then North for the return journey over numerous fields to Winster. A short stop was made at the high point just before Wyns Tor to take in the extensive views and take a couple of group photographs.
