Walk Report

9 of us set off from Grindleford church and straight up the steep path to Hay Wood and the Grouse Inn.  We had a coffee stop on the Longshaw estate then walked round to the path by Toads Mouth and over the moors to Winyards Nick, watching the deer on the way and enjoying the stupendous views before we had lunch on the descent towards Scraperlow.

We continued downhill to Hathersage the along the field path to Leadmill bridge. We left the riverside path and went up to the shady woodland track,
where the bluebells gave us an end of season splash of colour.

We were soon at the end of the walk, where several of us enjoyed drinks and delicious (and cheap!) home baked cakes at the little community shop and cafe.

Although it was a Bank holiday we had no problems parking and there were fewer people out and about than i was expecting. Weather was perfect with warm sunshine and a gentle breeze
