Walk Report
With one of our past chairs, Isobel McCormick, as a most welcome visitor, the Wednesday medium walk group were rewarded with continuous sunshine and cooling breezes as they set out from Brierley Forrest Park. Making their way past the tranquil fish pond then skirting the southern edge of the park the group reached the B6028 for a short detour to bypass a major new build project and thus join the Skegby Track.
Coffee was taken on the edge of Skegby before continuing along the track to reach the southern edge of the Pleasley Pit Country Park. A short track north led to the Teversal Trail where lunch was taken on a grassy bank overlooking the Rowthorn Trail and Norwood. The trail was followed to Teversal, bypassing the visitor’s centre, to reach Frackley Farm where a turn was made to return to field walking. A short photo opportunity was taken on reaching a newly installed foot bridge. We believe we may have been christening the bridge which in effect allows the River Medan to be crossed; although at this stage it is little more than a stream and currently completely dry. From here the chosen route was alongside a golf course before descending gently back in to Huthwaite and Brierley Park.
The majority of the group then took the opportunity to partake of drinks and scones in the park cafe.
