Walk Leader, Report & Photos: Mel H
Walk Report
Commencing with a walk through Brierley Forest Park the Wednesday Medium group followed the well-defined trail through the lightly wooded area to Stanton Hill. Due to extensive housing development a short section of road side walking was necessary to reach the trail leading to the Pleasley Pit Country Park. A short stop was made in Skegby for refreshments before continuing along the tree lined and conveniently shaded trail towards Pleasley.
Reaching the southern edge of the Country Park a sharp left turn led to the Teversal Trail to begin the return journey. An earlier than usual lunch was taken at the view point just beyond the turn for the Rowthorne Trail and the opportunity taken for a group photograph. Following a leisurely lunch in brilliant sunshine the walk continued along the trail where the shade provided by the trees abounding the trail provided most welcome shade as the temperature continued to increase.
The group were accompanied by a plethora of butterflies for the whole of walk. The route was completed with a walk along the edge of the Brierley Forrest Golf Course before returning to the extensive car park. The majority of the group then gathered in the onsite cafe for scones, cakes, coffee and tea.
