Leader, Report & Photos:    Peter & Loreta

Walk Report

14 of us set out from Mytham Bridge on today’s walk. We had a steady climb up to Hurst Clough then down via Birley farm to Hathersage Church for a tea break . We were treated to some plum cake made by Loreta.

From there we walked through Hathersage and then followed the path up to High Lees. We crossed the Sheffield road again and along to Greenwood farm through Oxhay wood and stopped for lunch behind Padley Chapel in the ruins of Padley Hall.

After lunch we continued down to the river Derwent which we followed to Leadmill bridge . Along the way a nest of the Northern Hairy Wood ant was found. After crossing the bridge we continued along the Derwent Valley Heritage way and back to Mytham Bridge .
